Dublin Zoo
No family trip to Dublin is complete without a visit to Dublin Zoo. Located in Phoenix Park, this attraction is just a short walk away from our hotel. Home to over 400 animals all representing over 100 species from around the world, you can easily spend a whole day here visiting the animals, exploring the exhibitions and getting some yummy food and of course – ice-cream. The Zoo welcomes over one million visitors each year, you can be sure there is something for all family here.
Phoenix Park
Just like Dublin Zoo, The Phoenix Park is just a stone throw away from our front door from us. There is plenty things to do here to do for both adults and children alike. From an excellent playground area, to picnic benches, not to mention the magical 500 fallow deer herd that lives there – rumour has it they are best friends with, you guessed it, Rudolph and Santa. Play eye-spy as you enjoy a hot chocolate and a coffee, from the Phoenix café and look at the wildlife from birds, insects and much more.
Viking Splash
The Viking splash tour is a way to see Dublin like no other and a really fun experience for the family to enjoy. The route takes in Dublin’s best visitor attractions a gives a really comprehensive tour of the city. Tours depart daily from St. Stephen’s green and the local tour guides will keep you engaged and entertained the whole way through. Discover sights such as St Patrick’s and Christchurch Cathedrals, Trinity College, Government Buildings and Georgian Dublin. End the tour with a splash as you explore into the Grand Canal docklands
National Aquatic Centre
The National Aquatic centre is one of the world’s largest indoor water centres. Equipped with large swimming pools and Aqua Zone water park this is an ideal way to spend a family day. AquaZone ranges from waterpark adventures for the bigger kids and pirate play areas for the younger ones. The National Aquatic Centre has something for everyone and is only a 20 minute drive from Ashling Hotel.
Imaginosity
Imaginosity is Ireland’s only interactive children’s museum for the under 9’s. Since opening back in 2007, the team have welcomed over 650,00 visitors to the museum. The museum offers a wide variety of workshops and classes in arts and crafts, computers, music and theatre every day in the Art Studio, in the Children’s Theatre Space and in the Cyber Room – and better yet most are free with admission. Your little one will be busy and filled with knowledge and fun.
National Leprechaun Museum
The National Leprechaun Museum is just a short Luas tram ride away from us at Ashling Hotel. This museum is full of fun, folklore and stories and is dedicated to the world of Irish myth. The museum is interactive and fun for both adults and kids. The Irish are well known for our captivating storytelling. Filled with your imagination and guided by storytellers, you’ll go on a fantastic adventure. Explore the spaces, listen to the stories and learn about mythical Ireland.
Wax Museum Plus
The Wax Museum Plus is a memorable experience for all the family as the meet their heroes – in wax form! After 40 years in business, the team know a lot about everything wax figures and offers the best interactive experience. There is three floors worth of wax figures, quizzes, trivia facts and interactive exhibits. Learn about the history and take tours with as you both learn about the iconic figures and most importantly, have fun!
Dublinia
No need for a time machine with Dublinia, the minute you step inside you are transported back to the Viking and Medieval times. See what life was almost exactly like onboard a Viking warship, learn and get to hold (with supervision of course) weaponry and better yet try on Viking clothing. Learn the myths and stories in a smoky Viking home from the incredible Vikings/ tour guides.
