The 3 Arena
The 3 Arena is voted one of the top ten busiest music venues in the world and is Ireland’s leading indoor concert venue. Holding 13,000 fans, the arena has hosted some of the world’s biggest acts whose concerts have sold out within seconds. If you are lucky to secure a ticket to one of these performances you will be guaranteed to have a great evening. Better yet, if you stay at The Ashling, we are just a short few minutes LUAS ride away, couldn’t get easier.
Bord Gais Energy Theatre
For any musical fans out there, the Bord Gais Energy Theatre should be top of your list. Only a LUAS ride away or a 20-minute drive from the Ashling Hotel, the Bord Gais is Ireland’s largest fixed theatre. Popular west end shows including Wicked, Sound Of Music, The Lion King, and Dirty Dancing have all been shown in the theatre. The team at Bord Gais aims to present a varied programme of world-class entertainment and a theatrical experience in a breathtaking setting.
Croke Park
Home to Ireland’s largest sports organisation, the GAA, and a capacity of over 80,000, Croke Park is Ireland’s biggest stadium and the third-largest stadium in Europe. With its massive spectatorship, it has also been the host of some world-renowned acts, as the stadium also acts as concert grounds, such as U2, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran. Westlife, Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones, and Little Mix have all played concerts here in recent years. Croke Park is approximately a 15-minute drive away from the Ashling Hotel.
Gaiety Theatre
Located just off Grafton Street, the Gaiety Theatre specialises in operatic and musical productions, it is held residence to the worldwide phenomenon which is Riverdance. Performers and playwrights associated with the theatre have been celebrated with the handprints cast in bronze and set in the pavement including Maureen Potter and John B Keane. Walk across to the Heuston Station from our hotel and you will be transported into an evening filled with culture.
Vicar Street
An evening sent at Vicar Street you will be sure to have a belly ache from laughing out loud as it’s Dublin’s most loved comedy venues and music. This venue is hugely popular for comedians to both host and tests their new comedy material. Tommy Tiernan, Joanne McNally Al Murray, and Ardal O’Hanlon all taking to the stage regularly. You can get to Vicar Street in 5 minutes via taxi or a 15-minute walk.
Aviva Stadium
The Aviva Stadium, situated on the grounds of the historical and former stadium Lansdowne Road holds over 50,000 spectators and is the home of Irish Rugby and Football but is also a major concert venue. Acts including Robbie Williams and Rihanna, Phil Collins and Billy Joel have all played concerts here From the Ashling Hotel you can catch the LUAS into the city centre and then get the dart to Lansdowne road, the Aviva Stadium is a 1-minute walk from there.
The Abbey Theatre
The Abbey Theatre is noted as one of the country’s leading cultural institutions. Inspired by the revolutionary ideas of their founders, the Abbey continues to hosts an array of Irish and international shows. Established in 1904 by W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory, the theatre is rich in history and has been the centre of Irish theatrical culture since its foundation. They also provide tours at a reasonable price, bringing tourists to the heart of the stage during the day, examining how the stage works, and delves into the history of the theatre.
Whelans
If you’re looking to see some local, up-and-coming talent, Whelan’s is the perfect spot for you. With a cosy pub feel with classic drinks and craft beers, Whelan’s plays host to a small capacity and the best sound. If you’re lucky enough to be in Dublin during the Christmas period, you could catch a big Irish act playing an intimate concert in the pub such as Gavin James, The Coronas, and Glen Hansard. Better yet, it is only a ten-minute drive from our location.
