Gerry Duffy and Ken Whitelaw set out to complete the
challenge of 32 marathons in 32 counties in 32 days, in aid of Irish Autism Action, Autism NI and the Irish Cancer Society. They completed them in style and so far have raised over €500,000.
The Ashling Hotel were delighted to be able to help out
and offer accommodation for some of the runners, helpers
and of course Gerry and Ken.
Registration started at 8.30am and there
was some fun and antics with Michael O'Leary on the day.

International Award Winning 4 star Hotel
On Wednesday 11th November An Taoiseach Brian Cowen officially launched the "New Look" Ashling Hotel. The hotel has been an Irish Landmark for over 100 years and after a major investment for redevelopment reputed to be in the order of €20 million the Ashling will continue to welcome guests for many more years to come.
The Ashling Hotel has been reborn with a brand new look and due to all this hard work and commitment has recently been reclassified as a four star hotel.
Commenting on the hotel’s redevelopment, Alan Moody, General Manager stated that ‘We are delighted with the hotels new look, and the positive feedback from our guests is absolutely amazing. Despite the difficult times we find ourselves in, we are very positive about the future.’
Congratulations to the Best Western Ashling Hotel on achieving the standards required for the Best Western, International "Excellence in Quality" Award.
The Ashling is the first Best Western Hotel in Ireland to receive this fine award.
Following on from receiving the International Award the Ashling was also presented with the "Highest Quality Hotel " Award for 2009 in Ireland.The “Best of the Best” is presented within the brand on an annual basis, as recognition of achieving the highest score in Best Westerns independently adjudicated Quality Assurance Assessments
The Ashling Hotel were presented with the C.I.E International Merit Award 2009, to add to their other achievements of the last year.
